ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re excited to be looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join our rapidly growing team at Boost. You will be part of the Actuarial team that challenges the status quo, with a major focus on modernizing actuarial best practices and procedures in order to meet the demands of a fast-paced environment. You will assist with product performance, maintenance of pricing models for existing products, and the research and development of pricing new products. You will create tools and processes to roll-out rating programs for both admitted and non-admitted products, and will build tools and resources to help actuaries scale, iterate, and create ways to reduce the risk of making mistakes, speeding-up slow processes, defining/redesigning best practices to modernize the field.
You will play an essential role on the Insurance team at Boost, and will report to the Lead Actuary. Boost HQ is a hybrid workplace.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Actuarial Analyst, you will…
- Update and maintain pricing models
- Partner with Lead Actuary and Insurance Team to file rate changes for admitted products
- Leverage data sources to engineer new features and enhance risk segmentation
- Have end-to-end ownership of problem domains; research new product ideas + coverages to develop and improve quantitative solutions
- Use your actuarial expertise and judgment to improve pricing, reserving, and program design
- Other ad hoc assignments
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of P&C actuarial experience
- Minimum of 2-5 CAS exams
- Excellent written communication skills
- Adaptable to new technologies
EXTRA CREDIT
- Comfortable using code to automate processes, promote reproducibility, and reduce the chance of error
- Experience responding to rate and rule objections, validating raters, and basic ratemaking concepts
- Experience with building pricing models
- Previous experience working at startups or tech companies
- Desire to pursue ACAS or FCAS credentials
- Experience with prepping model-ready data
