A ratings company is seeking an actuary at the Senior Analyst level to lead the ratings activities associated with specialized insurers, structured finance, and other entities/products related to the convergence of capital markets and insurance. They will also be involved with creating innovative analytical solutions for new initiatives in the ILS group.
Responsibilities:
Take the lead in rating select insurance companies and securities under the ILS Group while ensuring that quality, timeliness and compliance standards are consistently met or exceeded
Participate in rating committees and ensure that company procedures and standards are consistently followed
Assist with research and initiatives related to mortgages, insurance company impairments, and other specialized topics in the ILS Group
Help maintain and document compliance-related and operating standards and procedures
Help with the preparation of presentations (both external and internal) and webinars
Contribute to building the firm’s brand and reputation by representing it in a variety of platforms including seminars, conferences, special reports, analytical comments, and insurance industry and structured finance events
Assist with surveillance of current transactions – including the re-modelling process, when necessary
Help with the maintenance of the ILS Group's Matlab Programs
Assist the Credit Ratings and Criteria Group in the production and modification of criteria related to ILS transactions
Assist with verifying critical elements of the Financial Guarantor, CDO, and Life Settlement Models; including assuring that assumptions are consistent across various models
When necessary, interact with the external model validator in coordination with the Credit Ratings and Criteria Group
Assist with the record keeping process by the ILS Group

FCAS or ACAS with 5 to 7 years’ financial analysis experience in an insurance company, rating agency, or financial institution
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Actuarial Science, prefer advanced degree or professional designation
Aptitude for quantitative/statistical methods
Experience with or interest in learning Matlab for modeling purposes
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong knowledge of property/casualty actuarial methods
Good communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (citizen or permanent resident).
