A Day In The Life Of An Intern – P&C Actuarial

State Farm’s P&C Actuarial Department is a place where interns complete innovative and meaningful project work in a collaborative environment focused on developing technical and business skills - a perfect complement to the classroom.   Interns provide analysis and solutions through:

• Assessment of risk and financial needs for insurance products
• Development of innovative methods and applications to enhance insurance product pricing
• Data mining and predictive modeling such as regression, forecasting, and machine learning
• Research on emerging industry trends and hot topics
• Development through extensive training programs, mentoring programs, and leadership opportunities as well as competitive compensation/benefits such as actuarial exam raises.

We Are Looking for College Students With:

• Majors in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management or other analytical fields
• A minimum GPA of 3.25, though a GPA above 3.5 is preferred
• Experience with data and statistical analysis in Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python
• Intention to earn the ACAS/FCAS designation
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, leadership, and critical thinking skills
• Those who will be rising seniors as of the summer 2024 must have: 
• Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society actuarial exam, though completion of two or more exams is preferred.

Additional Details:

• This opportunity is for current college students.
• Candidate must have at least one semester of college remaining after summer of 2024.
• Candidate should have a desire to work for State Farm upon graduation.
• Competitive candidates may be invited to participate in pre-employment testing and/or the interview process. This is where the excitement begins!
