Job Summary:

The Member Services Coordinator will coordinate the membership functions, operations, and services of GIS student memberships and will support all daily activities of the VP of University Relations & Member Services. Execution of this role will support Gamma Iota Sigma’s strategic plan and be done in coordination with the GIS Leadership Team, Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees.

Note: This is a fully remote position.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Membership Administration
    • Administer the membership registration process
    • Coordinate membership forms and certificates
    • Update records and pull membership reports for the purpose of tracking membership growth, recruitment, and retention
    • Generate monthly reports to track membership metrics by chapter
  • Member Services Support
    • Assist with administration of member benefits, including but not limited to professional development, the GIS Career Center, career resources, scholarships, merchandise store, webinars, and other virtual resources
    • Contribute new member services ideas to further Gamma Iota Sigma’s mission to promote and sustain student interest in insurance and enhance the GIS value proposition for students
  • Chapter Operations Coordination
    • Manage the Monthly Chapter Report system
    • Assist with chapter officer training and resource development
    • Prepare monthly officer and advisor newsletter
    • Manage Find a Chapter map
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or related field preferred.
    • 1-2 years related experience required.
    • Insurance industry experience preferred.
    • Experience with trade association or membership organization preferred.
  • Skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Desire to learn and grow professionally.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
    • Strong work ethic.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role requires:

  • A remote office location with internet.
  • Approximately 10% travel, including air travel and driving.
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary to attend meetings and events.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds when required on-site at events.

NOTES:
Telecommuting is allowed.
