Farmers Mutual of Nebraska is looking for an Actuarial Analyst who wants to experience tasks that are wide-ranging utilizing multiple skill sets. This position is well suited for highly motivated individuals who are willing to learn, work hard, and who are committed to the P&C career track and their actuarial exam process.
Persons employed in this position are responsible for, but not limited to, design and development of methods and procedures to collect, analyze, and interpret statistical data relating to product pricing and design; and loss reserving analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Use current research and statistical techniques to analyze coverage profitability and price adequacy.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of product rate proposals.
Assist in the maintenance, validation, and analysis of actuarial datasets.
Prepare reports, including charts and graphs, and provide relevant summaries to management.
Assist in the gathering and analysis of loss reserving and of loss frequency and severity information.
Recognize best practices and create enhancements in work products.
Provide support to other departments within the company with various analyses/reports to evaluate business performance.
Four-year college degree with major in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent required.
Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam.
Commitment to achieving membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Proficient in Microsoft programs with strong command of Excel.
Some knowledge of programming such as Visual Basic and macros.
Experience with various analytical and modeling software such as R or SAS is helpful.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, self driven, and strong quantitative, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
