This position manages all aspects of developing the Company’s loss and loss adjustment expense reserves. It is responsible for determining appropriate methodologies, processes, and tools, directing and developing a team of actuaries to accomplish the unit’s objectives, and leading meetings with various audiences, including senior management.
Lead team in conduct quarterly and interim analyses of Loss and Loss Adjustment Expense reserves in support of Statutory and GAAP financial statements.
Interpret, summarize, and present results to Senior Leadership and other members of management; highly visible role.
Maintain and mentor team relative to understanding of current actuarial techniques and practices, industry trends, and legal/regulatory environment.
Establish and enhance methodologies, procedures, and tools for reserving function.
Conduct performance and assumption testing of actuarial methods and models, and update projections as appropriate.
Provide support for the completion of Actuarial Reports, SAO, and AOS.
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, or other related field.
ACAS/FCAS with 10+ years of multi-line P&C actuarial experience, including pricing and reserving.
Significant management experience and demonstrated competency in a leadership role.
Working knowledge of Statutory and GAAP financial statements.

Ability to collaborate with other areas, including Product, Pricing, Claims, and Finance, to ensure consistent understanding of operational environment and financial results.

Ability to learn new concepts and tasks, comprehend complex situations, and apply logical thinking and sound judgment to arrive at solutions to problems. Ability to balance the need for consensus building with the need for decisive action, while leading in a dynamic environment.
