The Senior Vice President, Actuary is a key business leader in the organization and will be the senior actuarial executive in the organization. They will manage all actuarial functions of the organization including internal staff and external consultants. The SVP, Actuary is a key contributor in the development and execution of the company’s strategic plans. This position is responsible for the reserving and pricing functions of the company and, as such, assisting in driving profitability. They will create and maintain robust data sharing across the company to help align business units with the company strategies.
The SVP, Actuary must be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries. The ideal Senior Vice President, Actuary will have strong reserving, reinsurance and pricing expertise and at least 10 years of leadership and people management.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: planning and data management, pricing, reserving, reinsurance and risk management, leadership.
Bachelor’s degree actuarial science or mathematics
15 years of actuarial experience in P&C insurance
At least 5 years in Medical Professional Liability insurance
Ten or more years of management/supervisory experience
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FACS) and Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
Demonstrated Leadership abilities
In depth understanding of property and casualty insurance
Strong relationship and team building capabilities
Strong project management skills
Proficient in various software programs necessary in the business environment and actuarial profession
Superior written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Salary Information: Eligible for bonus and long term incentive compensation
