We are currently seeking an addition to our actuarial team. The Actuarial Analyst assembles and verifies data used in creating actuarial analysis to support property and casualty underwriting pricing operations. The Actuarial Analyst applies basic actuarial/statistical techniques to enhance risk management activities to achieve goals that contribute to the attainment of revenue and profitability targets
Position & Responsibilities:
Perform the pricing function for all product lines. This includes communicating with the Product departments.
Use competitive information in both rate-making and determining underwriting growth targets
Develop rate level indications and communicate the results to senior management and underwriting departments
Ad hoc analyses of statistical premium and loss experience for all lines and communicate the results as required
Work with the Underwriting department, including presenting actuarial pricing information, evaluating rate proposals, and advising on the impacts of actions being proposed
Prepare actuarial portions of rate filings, including responding to questions raised by the various insurance departments
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related field and the successful completion 1 or more examinations toward ACAS certification.
1-2 years of property and casualty actuarial experience preferred
Specific experience in evaluating data needs and judging data quality.
Ability to learn to apply mathematical modeling, forecasting, statistical analysis, and actuarial techniques to product pricing and risk management issues.
Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
High energy with a desire to be a team player capable of interacting with a variety of individuals internally and externally
A positive attitude with a desire to learn. A sense of urgency directed toward the design of creative solutions
Ability to assist in building data models and conducting scenario testing and sensitivity analysis.
Knowledge of actuarial and risk management processes.
Strong computer skills with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Access, SQL, VBA, R or SAS preferred
