IAT has an immediate opening for an Actuarial Analyst supporting our Excess & Surplus portfolio. The position may be located in Cheshire, CT or Scottsdale AZ depending on the qualifications of the applicant.
Develops tools to measure and monitor profitability by business unit and product.
Identifies trends in claim frequency and claim severity and communicate results to underwriting and claims management.
Develops reports to measure rate action taken and its impact on retention and new business growth.
Develops and maintains capital allocation model to measure the risk-adjusted performance of each business unit.
Estimates and recommends loss reserves to be carried in the company’s financial statements.
Determines rates to be charged for each product.
Develops rate-making templates and provide support for state-by-state rate filings.
Collaborates with underwriting, claims, IT and senior management to develop plans for new products or improvements to existing products.
Provides economic view of reinsurance purchase options and recommend courses of action.
Performs economic analyses at the treaty level; identification, quantification, and determination of risk and expense elements. Determines appropriate returns to support each treaty’s risk profile.
Gathers data, analyzes information, and makes recommendations/decisions to solve problems. Interprets the meaning of information for others within the organization.
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial sciences, statistics or analytics or equivalent.
Equivalent experience is defined as having 4 years of relevant actuarial experience in the P&C Insurance environment.
GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
Must be able to work independently and have superb oral and written communication capabilities.
Ability to proactively identify opportunities or problems and the ability to facilitate understanding and solution development.
Highly skilled analytical and conceptual thinking.
Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
