W.R. Berkley Corporation is looking for dynamic candidates for their Actuarial/Senior Actuarial Analyst opportunity in Greenwich/Stamford, CT. This position plays a dual role in assisting the Chief Actuary in daily operations within BRAM and the Global Reinsurance Segment.
The individual will be working closely with the Actuarial Teams for Berkley’s Home Office and BRAM and will have significant exposure to Pricing and Reserving for Facultative and Treaty Products, Financial Reporting, Planning and various IT development projects.
Key responsibilities (but not limited to)
Assist the Actuarial Teams in various oversight and actuarial functions, including:
Pricing / Reserving as needs arise for Home Office / BRAM
Peer reviewing various exercises such as Financial Reporting, Pricing and Reserving etc. for the Global Reinsurance Segment
Various projects / exercises as needs arise
Minimum five years of experience in an actuarial position. Reinsurance experience is preferred but not essential.
Exposure to and familiarity with U.S. Financial Reporting a plus.
Skills / Attributes required
Independent thinker, highly motivated with the ability to use own initiative and with potential to be developed to a leadership role.
Good interpersonal & communication skills. Experience working in a team, across other departments and / or underwriters a plus.
Strong IT skills in Excel. Good knowledge of Visual Basic, Access and SQL a plus.
FCAS, ACAS or Near ACAS (or Equivalent)
