Purpose of Job
Senior actuarial leader with responsibility for pricing of all of USAA’s P&C lines of business. Accountable for providing timely and actionable analyses to product line leadership to enable product and pricing decisions in support of P&C goals and strategies. The executive is an influential leader that is responsible for the strategic vision, deployment and ongoing implementation of pricing strategies. A key member of the Actuary & Analytics leadership team responsible for the development and execution of initiatives to advance USAA’s capabilities in data analytics.
Provides executive leadership and guidance in the development, maintenance and application of data analytics and develops insights and recommendations in support of P&C pricing/product objectives and strategies.
Accountable to Auto & Property General Managers for development and execution of pricing plans. Develops strong working relationships with key stakeholders including product line leaders, experience owners, product development leaders, senior financial officers, other analytic leaders, and regulators where appropriate.
Builds and leads a high performing team of analytical and actuarial employees with a broad range of advanced analytical expertise and high levels of P&C business knowledge.
Develops and provides analyses and tools to product management teams to enable data-driven decisions. Partners with product line leadership to develop analytical acumen within product management teams.
Leads teams that determine system requirements to support all aspects of pricing and perform country-wide rate factor analyses
Develops tools and procedures to empower state managers to make pricing decisions within established limits.
Provides input and advice on the Product Management and Pricing analytics roadmaps, and oversees implementation.
Leads competitive intelligence to develop and deliver actionable insights. Provides comparative analysis of competitor pricing and segmentation models, to include modeling programs against competitors to evaluate relative lift.
Bachelor’s Degree mathematics, statistics or other quantitative field OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation
10+years of progressive related experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment
8+ years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams
Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals
Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends
5+ years leading teams in an actuarial role in personal lines of insurance
Demonstrated successes in product management
Experience in predictive modeling, bridging pricing to analytics
Creative problem solving in a highly regulated and consumer advocate environment
