Provide Predictive Modeling support to the organization as part of the Actuarial team.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather, cleanse and prepare model ready datasets
Refine current rating models – by market segment/industry type/policy size…
Develop rating/underwriting models for new lines of business (where we may not have internal data/experience)
Apply PM to claim department reserving
Apply PM to marketing efforts
Refine policy scoring for policy submission triage
Assist IT Department in application of machine learning
Assist IT Department in refining and enhancing IFG's data warehouse – including the creation of a data dictionary
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS
2-4 years of experience with pulling and aggregating data from internal and external sources
ACAS/FCAS/PhD – Desirable but not required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Actuarial data sources and analytical tools
Knowledge of advanced actuarial ratemaking
Knowledge of commercial account pricing – class and individual risk
Experience and Retro rating plans
Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance
Individual and aggregate loss modeling
Multi-variate statistical modeling and diagnostics
Knowledge and experience with Analytical and Predictive Modeling methods – GLMs, GAMs, Tree-based modeling, etc.
Knowledge of Credibility Theory
Extensive knowledge of databases – relational and other
High level of communication skills – written, verbal and presentation
Required Software Knowledge
SAS – Extensive experience using SAS programming language as well as Enterprise Guide and Miner. Ability to pull JSON and other API call based data files directly into SAS. Experience using SAS for insurance applications.
Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others meetings or via phone.
Ability to travel as necessary for business reasons.
