Reporting to the CAT Team Leader, the Catastrophe Modeller is responsible for the preparation, analysis (RMS & AIR), and creation of final exhibits, consisting of exposure data/loss results that are used by clients and brokers in reinsurance decision making.
Scrubbing client data, preparing the data to run in the catastrophe modelling software (RMS & AIR) and analyzing the final results
Assisting brokers in explaining the final results from the modelling software (through exhibits and presentations)
Assisting the modelling team in automating processes to streamline workflow using R, Python, SQL and VBA
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
2-3 years of catastrophe modelling experience using RMS and AIR modelling software
GIS mapping experience with ArcGIS or QGIS
Strong large data manipulation skills using R, Python, SQL and VBA (must be able to write code and queries)
Ability to use functions in excel such as formulas, vlookups and pivot tables (problem solving skills to use such functions to manipulate data into desired format)
Modelling certifications such as the RMS CCRA and AIR CCM
Obtained or working toward industry certifications such as the ARe, CPCU or similar designations
